Acid peels strongly but gently exfoliate the surface cells of the skin; depending on the skin's renewal phase and the number of stratum corneum, mild side effects may occur in the skin for the first few days and/or weeks after treatment, including redness, peeling, pimples rising to the surface, i.e. pores being cleaned, mild swelling and a feeling of discomfort.

After a lactic acid peel, the skin may be slightly red for a few hours. After a glycolic acid peel, the skin may be red for about 24 hours and may peel and tighten during the first week. The best and most visible treatment results will appear around the third or fourth day.

Do not pick, scratch or rub the skin and the loose/flaking cells. This may introduce bacteria to the skin and cause scarring or hyperpigmentation.

Sun exposure should be avoided for three weeks after treatment.

Retinol, Retinoids and strong vitamin A products should be avoided for seven days after treatment.

The treated skin should not be sugared, waxed, depilated or lasered for a minimum of seven days after treatment.

The skin should not be exfoliated with granular or chemical peels during the treatment series. After the treatment series is completed, the use of exfoliating products can be started after a minimum of seven days have passed since the last AHA treatment.

Until the skin has recovered after the treatment:

The skin should not be exposed to hot water or showers. Hot steam, baths or saunas should also be avoided.

Sports and exercise that require sweating should be avoided.

The skin should be protected with a high SPF 35 protection factor daily throughout the treatment series.

Topical use of retinoids and tretinoins within the past 4 weeks

Broken, open skin or acute herpes

Antibiotic medication - topical or internal

Isotretinoin medication within the past year

Pregnancy or breastfeeding (glycolic acid peel)

General history and background of severe allergies

Aspirin or salicylic acid allergy/sensitivity

AHA - Advanced Peel -treatment is always recommended in a series of three (3) or six (6) treatments, every 1.5-2 weeks. A new treatment series can be started after eight weeks.
