How long am I committing to a course of therapy?
Therapy begins with the first session, during which the goals of brief therapy are mapped out. Therapeutic work starts right from this initial meeting. When you book an appointment, you are only committed to that specific session. At the end of each session, the next appointment is scheduled if deemed necessary. Typically, therapy involves 1-10 sessions, sometimes up to 20. For some, one session of brief therapy is enough to untangle issues, while others require longer treatment courses. Sessions can be weekly or, for example, every couple of weeks. Each session lasts 45 minutes.
Do I need a doctor's referral or a decision from Kela for reimbursement?
Solution-focused brief therapy is a low-threshold service. It does not require a doctor's referral, and you can book an appointment directly through our booking system. The therapy is not reimbursable by Kela; however, brief therapy is a cost-effective form of therapy due to its short duration and early accessibility. Brief therapy can be utilized, for example, when a client is waiting to begin actual psychotherapy.
Who is solution-focused brief therapy suitable for?
Solution-focused brief therapy is suitable for individuals who want to address and resolve specific problems or challenges in their lives quickly and effectively. It is ideal for those who prefer to focus more on the future and positive changes rather than past events and their causes. This form of therapy can be beneficial for individuals struggling with issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or burnout. The therapy is typically short-term and concentrates on concrete goals and solutions.
